We are just a couple days away from the end of Fortnite season 5 and the beginning of Chapter 2, season 6, which we know will feature us playing some sort of single player mission as Agent Jonesy that will lead directly into the new season.
Now, we have our first teaser for the new season, which is yet another voice recording from Jonesy, one where he appears to be getting unstable and about to do something drastic.
In the message, he warns that they’ve lost control of the Zero Point and no one at “the Order,” the organization he works for, seems to care. He says that all of reality is about to end, so he’s apparently going to do something severe to stop that, which I assume will be our upcoming mission.
The background of the video shows various glimpses of Jonesy in different forms, talking on the phone, having a long beard when he was in the bunker, etc. But there are also bits and pieces of what could be battle pass skins, a spiky shoulder plate, some sort of bio-armor with the number 10 stamped on it. Something that very much looks like wolf teeth, though slightly different than the “Dire” skin we’ve had in the game (I checked, he has larger fangs). Mayyybe these are older skins (it’s hard to keep track of them all) but that’s not how these teasers usually work.
Regardless, we are not seeing anything explicitly licensed here, which would be a break from the Marvel/Star Wars-led battle passes of the last two seasons. Not that Fortnite is done with licenses of course, but perhaps this new season may be less IP-heavy than the last two.
If these teasers play out the way ones have in the past, that could mean that we get one every day at around this time leading up until the actual end of season 5 itself, though sometimes we have gotten more than one per day, so we’ll have to see what happens over the course of the day.
“Reality collapsing” seems like a pretty big basis for this season, and that could result in any number of untold map changes. Though if Agent Jonesy (controlled by us) manages to save things during his mission, perhaps not.
For now, all we have to go on are these small glimpses of skins and what Jonesy is saying in his message. As ever, the “plot” of Fortnite remains a fascinating, albeit cryptic experience that’s hard to parse, but essentially the Zero Point is the thing that connects all worlds and dimensions, and if that gets out of control, goodbye reality. Stay tuned for what happens next.
