Closing out day four of Paris Fashion Week, French brand Coperni held a live show of seventy guests at the AccorHotels Arena, one of Paris’s largest stadiums built for twenty thousand, in the 12th arrondissement. One of the few brands who held a live show, the concept was unique and safe in the form of a drive-in.
“We have been passionate about the digital world for some time now,” says lead designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant in an interview before the show. “But after showing during Paris Fashion Week last year, we believe that in the time we are living, there is no comparison with living a true, real life experience.”

Partnering with a luxury electric car company, select guest were picked up from their homes by a tested and disinfected car and driven to the arena. Along with other guests in their own cars, who all parked diagonally, side by side forming two separate runways. This allowed for safety and comfort during the show. As the first model ascended down the runway, the first car’s headlights turned onto max power, along with the other thirty-five car lights following, lighting up the arena.

“The theme of the collection is “the night,” notes the former Courrèges designers Meyer and Vaillant, who created a distinct collection of form fitting tight and short silhouettes paired with leather boots. Blazers with distinct shoulders were not amiss, some with furry collars. Meyer and Vallant aimed to create a collection of the at home wear the world has been wearing for a year, along with a look of a night out, like pre-pandemic parties.
“Again, after staying home and hearing about leisurewear for a year now, we felt that our friends, women that we speak to everyday and that inspire us, had one dream: putting on a sexy dress, her boyfriend’s jacket and running into that deep night-time experience! Explore and live!”

Models walked down the runway to DJ Clara 3000, a friend of the duo designers. The collection is Meyer and Vallant saying to Covid, the show must go on. “We are waiting for the time when will be out, dancing, being around people, freely. And what is fashion without a little dreaming?”
Covid has caused the duo to step back and really look at what’s most important for the company. “I feel that we are more focused. We always center our intention on the positive, and the truth is that we had a little time to think and to reflect on what’s important, the core the brand, and where we want to take it.”
And they are different in how they choose to unveil collection. They have been known to project collections over a forum at Paris Apple Champs-Élysées store, like they did for their SS20 season. Coperni is a distinct brand with distinct designers at the helm that leave fashion watchers saying, “what will they come up with next season for their show?”
