In Miami, the 305 area code is more than just a means of getting someone on the phone, it’s a culture all in its own — something Miamians pride themselves on. Thanks to 305 Cafecito®, a movement around the city’s official coffee break time at 3:05 p.m., March 5th (as in 3/05) is now celebrated as 305 DAY® and has become a wildly celebrated cultural movement that can be felt throughout the city on this very day.
In the past, 305 DAY® was honored with a massive block party that drew crowds from neighborhoods all over Miami. This year for obvious safety reasons, it’s being celebrated as a small business initiative with over 60 businesses getting into the spirit by celebrating Miami’s culture.
JennyLee Molina, Founder of 305 DAY®
“I am honored to see 305 DAY evolve into such a widely celebrated and appreciated community initiative. Today more than ever we need to focus on supporting our local small businesses. What better way to celebrate the 305 than by supporting the people who make it so special,” said JennyLee Molina, the 305 DAY founder who hashtagged #305day over eight years ago and decided that celebrating annually on March 5th with free cafecitos and pastelitos was a good idea… and it stuck.
Those outside of Miami may know Armando “Pitbull” Perez as Mr. Worldwide, but the Grammy award winning international artist started out as Mr. 305 and has proudly become a partner in 305 DAY®.
